Nutella Fixes Everything

Monday, September 7th is right around the corner. Labor Day is a tribute to respect working men and woman. And has been a federal holiday since 1894 when 30 states officially decided to celebrate Labor Day.

Many see that as an opportunity to have a day off work, to take a last chance to enjoy Summer, and time to spend with family.

Many of you may have family activities and having the table filled with great food is a must! I found a dessert that I think will please everyone and make everyone who takes a bite say, “Yum!” Yes, and because you came across my blog today I am going to share it with you!

Picture this: you over slept on Labor Day and didn’t get a chance to go to the store to get what you need to bake a cake. You only have 30 minutes and just no time to run to the store and bake. You can’t show up with a pre made cake from the bakery as the tradition is everyone makes something homemade. Now, what do you do?

Have you ever heard Nutella makes everything better? In this case it applies.  brownies-2

Seriously, you make something that doesn’t taste good put Nutella on it and instantly it taste better

Alright let me share my favorite recipe for the week I found. Run to your cabinets, grab Nutella, flour and some eggs. I found a 3 ingredient recipe that will definitely save you when you need a cake with not much time to make it in.

Ingredients: 1 1/4 Nutella, 2 eggs, 1/2 cups of all purpose flower.

Okay this recipe I found I love that it is just a stir all the ingredients in and pop in the oven! Preheat oven to 350F. Mix all ingredients together real well. The recipe I found says to pour in a 9×9 baking pan but the size can be altered slightly depending how thick or thin you want your cake brownies to come out.

Bake for 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Do not over bake. Cool, cut and enjoy! No, we aren’t done yet if you have some vanilla or chocolate ice cream that would be amazing over the warm brownie. Pretty sure your kids will thank you too.

Well hope you enjoyed this blog post. I probably made you all hungry! Sorry, about that. I would really love if you all would comment below sharing what you plan on doing on Labor Day.

Until next time have a great day!

Let’s Go To Dominican Republic

I thought today we would take a trip to the Dominican Republic! Okay, not really, but I went and want to tell you about it!

Vacations are really a great time to spend quality time with your spouse. Sometimes a vacation is much needed and when living a busy life you just need that break.

Me and my husband for our 5th anniversary stayed at the LaRomana Grand Bahia Resort. We stayed 7 days and 6 nights. Now that is sometimes how long you have to get away to recuperate from constantly being busy. Running an Etsy shop you are always busy, but definitely worth it!Anniversary Trip

We went swimming under the sea with the sharks, snorkeling, and above water we went canoeing and paddle boarding. We also took a reef tour on a manmade island.

We took this Catamaran boat ride to the beautiful Starfish Island. I know many of you are probably thinking we visited the fictional island that was featured in the Batman TV series episode Vertigo. We promise we went to a legit Island names Starfish Island.   Starfish Island

It was just really nice. The beautiful baby blue skies and the white sand. No worries just fun, sunshine and relaxation time. Vacation is always needed at some point. If it is a day or several weeks we all have times where our bodies and minds need to relax.

I would love to hear about your story on what you did on your favorite trip. Comment below and share a great place to take a trip and why.

Top 3 Tips for creating your own Bespoke Charm Bracelet

Brass Charm Logo (1)

Sometimes it can feel impossible to find the exact charm bracelet to match your clothing outfit. The most common problems are wrong colors, metal types or the charms themselves may not make the same statement that your clothes do.

If this sounds like a regular frustration you experience often, then why not spend less time browsing shopping malls and simply make your own? Creating a bespoke custom charm bracelet is not as difficult as it may sound and can be a rewarding experience. The biggest challenge you will likely have is deciding on what charms to use in the first place?

When choosing charms for a bracelet, it is often best to put some thought into the design first, rather than throwing any random mixture of charms onto a link. With this in mind, here are our 3 top tips for creating your very own bespoke charm bracelet:

1) Color choice – Try to decide first on if you would like any color on your bracelet or not. The rule of thumb, like any jewelry can depend on when you plan to wear your band. Generally gold, brass and silver charms look better with more formal clothing types including office wear, while bright colours suit more casual clothing. Of course you can always add a splash of color too, for example if you’re wearing a charm bracelet with a formal blue dress, then a few matching navy blue beads would look exquisite.

2) Formal or Non Formal – Similar to color choice, you may wish to think beforehand about the types of charms you are going to use. For example, a huge collection of large brass animal style charms may look impressive but feel clunky when wearing it with shorts and a vest top. However, if you’re not too fashion conscience then let your imagination run wild.

3) Charms Personality – When creating a custom charm bracelet, your charms should be an extension of your personality or symbol of how you’re feeling on that day. Often when wearing a custom charm bracelet people will comment on it. What better way to explain what the charms mean to you, the perfect way to express yourself and amaze people with your own creation.

DIY Soap Creating

Today will be another DIY post, but this time based off of my love of soap making. Recently making your own soap from home has become very popular. No one wants to wash with harmful chemicals.

Before I got into natural and DIY I never thought much about what was in my products. I knew it was important to watch what I eat, but I never made the connection with what I put on the outside matters too. When I started caring about natural and organic I started looking at my products. When I looked at the back of my soap bar I was disgusted at what I found. Chemicals, chemicals and more chemicals putting on my body.

Researching I found it is possible to make your own soap at home with or without using lye. Many don’t want to handle lye because it is a very dangerous chemical. Why, put it in soap? When lye and fat are mixed together in proper portions saponification happens which is a chemical reaction. When prepared and cured for many weeks no lye will actually remain in the final product. Making it completely safe for use.

If you do choose to use lye in your soap making process please make sure to follow with safety instructions:

Arms and legs should be covered and gloves must be worn.

If you are like many though who do not want lye anywhere in your house there is an alternative. Good news, right? It is no different then trying to bake homemade cookies or cookies from a premade box. You can make it from scratch or you can buy a melt and pour base. Really depends on if you want to use the chemical or not. Regardless if you make it from scratch or from a melt and pour base all soap has lye. One way you handle it the other you don’t have to because that process is taken care for you.

Let me talk about the melt and pour base for this post. You cut your melt and pour base into chunks. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time or you can melt on a double boiler.

Now you can either go buy fun different shape molds or just use silicone muffin tins, paper cups etc.

This is where you get to decide what you want in your soap. Want to add flowers? pour a little in the mold then add flowers then just continue process. Add essential oils or maybe oatmeal for exfoliation. The possibilities you can create are endless really. Have fun with it and make sure to let your soap set for a few weeks.

If you ever made handmade soap or have a great recipe please share in the comments! Would love to hear what you have to say.

Somebody Has To Say It

I always try and get in the shortest line in store. I want to get in and get out.  When you are busy all day and running all over completing Etsy orders the last thing you want to do is stand in line with a bunch of frozen items that you know are just defrosting.

Once I have my items I dart to the shortest line. I get in and out. Occasionally though the short line I am in isn’t moving. The register broke, it is the persons first day of work, the person in front of you has too many items to even be in the under 20 or less line. So you move. You think I can get out much quicker if I just go to that short line over there. You get out of line and as you walk up about to put your items on the belt you hear,” Sorry, I am closed.” Frustration hits and you turn around to race back in the line you just left and sure enough the line is longer than before and now your frozen items are defrosted.

Much easier to shop online. Whatever I am shopping for I just think it is so much easier to sit at home, click add to cart and have it mailed to my door. No line to wait in. I guess this is why I like buying on Etsy, because it is quick and easy.

So my advice, next time you are in a line that isn’t moving just be patient because the moment you move the line will double.

How It Came To Be

il_570xN.814548153_5nz6Good morning! Today I thought it would be fascinating to talk a little about the history behind jewelry. If you really think about it jewelry is a huge market. Practically every store you go in has some kind of jewelry being featured. Not all, but a lot do. Jewelry has been popular with all ages throughout many years, but does anyone ever wonder how it came to be?

Well if you ever were curious about the story behind jewelry you came to the right blog post. Now many might read this and say,” Isn’t it spelled jewellery ?” Actually yes, for British English, Australian English, and South African English it is spelled that way. Jewellery came from the word jewel, but for American English it is spelled jewelry. Confusing many possibly, but glad I got to clear that up since this is a jewelry blog and that word will be used often!

Through researching I really wanted to find where the first pieces where created and what from. I actually found out that the first pieces of jewelry came from Africa it seems. Now I am not sure how many today would wear what they used when creating jewelry, but they started it by using snail shells to create shell jewelry. I also found after that in Kenya they used ostrich egg shells. Personally I do not think I would of liked jewelry back then, but now I love it.

Jewelry has really changed in thousands of years and trends have transformed the way jewelry looks. As the years go by I am more and more surprised at what people design and create. Really beautiful pieces with different kinds of methods to please every style.

Some pieces also carry sentimental value in it. Some use engagement rings and wedding rings to show marriage and commitment , others may wear a vintage ring passed down through generations. Many wear lockets filled with a photo of a loved one and some engrave watches to have an encouraging word to look at often.

Next time you look at a piece of jewelry you will know some history behind it and know the story of how it came to be. I like knowing these random facts that many don’t know or care to think about.

If you have some history about jewelry that I did not cover please share in comments! I really enjoyed writing this and the research was very interesting. Hope you all enjoyed this and don’t forget to follow so you can keep up to date with the latest and greatest of all things jewelry.

Create Your Own Statement Piece

Today is a blog post about DIY jewelry making. I love that feeling when I am out and about wearing something I made and someone compliments it. That feeling of getting to say,” Thank you. I made it myself.”

Now before I share some great DIY tips for jewelry making don’t forget to check out my shop as I have great charms and beads that can be used for this project.

My shop:

My goal here is to try to find a simple jewelry making process that anyone can do. As I post I will eventually be making more advanced blog post on jewelry creating. All you need for this is three items.

Things you will need to make your very own DIY leather bracelet

1: Leather cord or strip.

2: As well as beads with large enough holes. You can check out my shop to buy   il_570xN_758431662_n4sbbeads in bundle at affordable prices for this project.

That is all you need for this project. Simple, right?

Alright first thing cut two leather strands same in size. Measure around your wrist so you know to make it long enough. Put the two strands together and knot one end. Make sure to leave a little length to be able to tie bracelet around your wrist. It might be easiest to do this project if you take the side with the knot and tape it to the table, but that option is up to you.

Now the fun part. Take a bead and slide in on one of the leather strands. Take the bead and move it all the way up next to the knot.

Take the other strand and put it through the bead hole coming from the opposite direction. Then do this same repeating motion for each bead. Slide a bead on one strand then put the second strand through the bead hole from the other direction. Have fun with it. Mix the colors of the beads up. Half way through even take a charm through both strands tie it in a knot then continue with bead process.

When you finish completing the beading process with a basic knot and tie the other end of bracelet. Congrats you just made your first DIY bracelet.

I really hope you like this fun and simple DIY jewelry making process. I plan on having more of these in the future so if you like posts like this make sure you follow to keep up-to-date with new blog post.

In the comments share your DIY jewelry making tips.

Hammered Jewelry

Large Brass Arrowhead Pendants, Made in the USA, 2pcsI am so happy you could join me for my first blog post. Well if you read my about page you know I love creating and designing jewelry as well as collecting charms. Something about the beauty in each piece that can stand out becoming its own statement piece. A good piece of jewelry can really make someone feel confident.

When researching and learning about jewelry there is a lot that goes into the process.  I do consider the person who makes jewelry an artist. They design it from pure imagination.

I have seen some beautiful hammered pieces of jewelry before. Where the way they hammered it looks like little waves you would see within the ocean. It is really neat just how many hammers are out there just for hammering jewelry. Hammers like raw silk, pointed, circle, and flat are just a few I found to make different textures in the jewelry.

If you love hammered jewelry like I do check out my gallery to see some pieces I have created.

For my next post I will create a DIY on creating jewelry to show you guys some of my tricks and how you can even buy charms from my shop to incorporate in your new jewelry making process.
